Karl G. Ruling is the Technical Standards Manager for the Entertainment Services and Technology Association, for which he administers the Technical Standards Program and writes about standards, technical issues, and trade shows. When time permits, he also designs scenery, special effects, and lighting for theatrical productions, and edits translations into English of foreign technical articles. Ruling holds an Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara with majors in Dramatic Art and in Psychology.
