Joe McGeough

For nearly 30 years Joe McGeough has been associated with Flying by Foy.  Starting as a systems operator for the flying ballet on Ice Capades, Joe’s is now Director of Operations at Foy Inventerprises, Inc.; the world’s pre-eminent performer flying effects company.
Over the years Joe worked closely with the late Peter Foy and his son Garry to develop new flying systems for productions worldwide.  Some of the productions that he collaborated on were:

  • The flying angels at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove
  • Tarzan the musical
  • 11 Royal Caribbean Cruise ships
  • Mary Poppins
  • The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular
  • The flying angels at Phoenix 1st Assembly of God
  • And countless other productions

In 1999 Joe and the team at Foy introduced the Pegasus Automation system, which is a complete interactive front end for controlling the full line of winches offered by Foy for the flying of aerial performers.  The Pegasus system is being upgraded continuously with the latest developments coming in the high speed (up to 30 feet per second) and radio controlled areas.
Current projects include another creation of aerial effects on the world’s oceans with Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas in Turku, Finland (sailing May of 2008); Billy Elliot on Broadway where we will introduce the Pegasus EZ Lift control system, Shrek the Musical, another production at Everland amusement park in Seoul, Korea, and Wicked in Australia.
Joe is please to be part of the North American Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference (NATEAC) this summer; it should be an informative conference.
