Born in Puerto Rico, Josephine Márquez has been a professional lighting designer for Ballet, Opera and Theatre since age 19 and has worked as a theatre consultant for the past 20 years.
Since establishing her company J Márquez Consultants Inc. in 1998, she has worked as Theatre Consultant and Owners Rep for Jazz@ Lincoln Center, and she is now involved with the renovation of Alice Tully Hall and The Juilliard School at Lincoln Center.
Her past experience includes lighting soap operas for ABC Network, and she was Principal Designer/Project Manager for projects such as Avery Fisher Hall, The Juilliard School, The New Victory Theatre, the Ford Center for the Performing Arts in NYC, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Bass Performance Hall, Chicago Orchestra Hall, Centro Nacional de las Artes and Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Maui Community Arts and Cultural Center, Singapore Convention and Exhibition Center, Suwon Park Outdoor Amphitheatre in Korea, and Teatro Angela Peralta in Mazatlán.
