William Gorlin

William Gorlin is Vice President of the Entertainment Division at McLaren Engineering Group of West Nyack, New York.  He holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Cornell University.  He is a licensed Professional Structural Engineer, certified by the Structural Engineers Certification Board.  He has been involved with the design of show action equipment, staging, rigging, scenic and entertainment structures, amusement structures, entertainment facilities, buildings, architectural themeing, sculptures, and other specialty frameworks nationwide and internationally for over 20 years.  His vast engineering experience portfolio includes stage set and rigging design for theatrical productions such as The Color Purple, Tarzan, Jane Eyre, Fiddler on the Roof and Blue Man Group; evaluating, restoring, retrofitting, and/or load rating a majority of Broadway’s historic theaters; stage set and rigging design for touring concerts for the Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, Tina Turner; engineering major effects for several permanent Cirque Du Soleil productions; structural design of numerous roller coasters and flume rides; and many themed attractions and productions in Las Vegas.  He has delivered numerous lectures during his career, and his engineering work for entertainment applications has often been cited in industry publications.  Mr. Gorlin is a Member of the Structural Engineers Association of New York, and served as a Director from 2003 to 2005, and is a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
