Marie-Flore Gignac, Architect

Marie-Flore Gignac is Head of Architecture and Design for the Theatre Projects department at Cirque du Soleil.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the McGill School of Architecture in Montreal, Canada.  During the course of her studies, Marie-Flore had the opportunity to work with Hans Hollein in Vienna, Austria on the competition for "Vulcania": a Vulcano Museum in Auvergne, France (completed in 2002).
           Prior to joining the Cirque team, Marie-Flore acquired over 10 years of experience in the Architectural profession, working on a variety of projects from design to construction with a particular emphasis on cultural and entertainment type facilities.  Some of the projects she contributed to include the Faculty of Design and the Claire McNicholl Pavillion for the University of Montreal, Famous Players Paramount Cinema Complex, the rotating exterior amphitheatre at “La cité de l’Énergie” in Shawinigan, the Library of Parliament renovation in Ottawa and the “Galerie du Gouverneur” for the SAQ.
           Marie-Flore’s current role within the Theatre Projects team is to supervise the design and development for all of Cirque’s theatres and to ensure the integrity of Cirque’s parameters and standards throughout the whole process up to the show premiere.  Since her arrival at Cirque in 2005, Marie-Flore has worked on several theatre projects, among which the Tokyo (Japan) and Macau (China) Cirque theatres scheduled to open in 2008 summer.
