Scott Butler, AIA

Scott Butler is one of the founding partners of Boston-based Wilson Butler Architects, a nationally-renowned practice dedicated to architecture for the arts. He and co-founder Scott Wilson have collaborated for over 20 years on the design of architecture for arts and education. Today he has worked nationally on over 50 arts-centered projects. The firm’s successful projects are the result of the collaborative style, and the collaborative tools, that he and Scott Wilson have developed over the years, a back and forth in the studio, with the many special consultants that contribute, and with each
client group.
           Scott’s work with arts education facilities accommodates students of all ages. Scott’s current secondary education work includes the new Kirby Arts Center at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville New Jersey, the Boston Arts Academy, and The New England Center for Performing Arts in Franklin, MA. Scott’s portfolio for college and university clients includes Towson University, the design of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts; Brandeis University, Maryland’s Howard Community College, and the Boston Conservatory.
          His work is characterized by innovation and an ability to conceive straightforward yet creative solutions to challenging problems. Award winning work includes Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines shipboard venue “Studio B”, the first ice skating performance rink at sea, and the new Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, Hartford, CT. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Masters of Architecture, his bachelor’s degree is from the University of Manitoba.
