Structural Issues in a Motorized World:
Automation is not just for Broadway Anymore

The recent rise in the use of automated systems is unprecedented in the history of Entertainment building design.  The load capacities and the speed at which elements are manipulated require more than a cursory glance during the design process. What is practical for today's venues, be they educational facilities, regional arts centers or urban performing arts centers needs to be considered during all phases of the process from design through system implementation.

Shawn Nolan, president of Nolan Engineering Services is joined by William Gorlin, P.E., S.E., SECB, Vice President of the Entertainment Division at McLaren Engineering Group, Steve Rust, Director of technical Services at Sachs Morgan Studio and Scott Fisher, President of Fisher Technical Services to discuss the structural needs of new and existing venues as the machines come rolling in.
