                       What to Expect in the Automation Age

A review of the current developments in stage lifts, overstage rigging and changeable auditoria and their application to a range of professional, school and university theatres. Ted Ohl of Pook, Diemont and Ohl, and John Hastie of Stage Technologies, will consider new approaches in power flying systems and their controls, while Richard Brett of consultants, Theatreplan, will describe some of the stage floor machinery that is now available.  Joe Aldridge, who has worked in most of the venues in Las Vegas and is now Chair of the Nevada Resort Association/IATSE Local 720 Training Trust, considers the importance of proper training for the users and operators of modern stage equipment.
